HWY 504 CORRIDOR

What was first known as Lewis River Road in 1909 is now called the 504 corridor. The 504 was established during the 1964 highway renumbering.This State Route is a rural area that runs between the Interstate 5 junction and Johnston Ridge. The 504 corridor runs through Castle Rock, Toutle, Silver Lake, and Coldwater Lake. The State Route is popularly known for Mount St. Helens and Seaquest State Park. The 504 corridor is a gateway to natural and scenic resources. Community offers miles upon miles of walking, jogging, and hiking trails, hunting, fishing, and boating, and camping  opportunities. 
 
 

COLDWATER LAKE- is located on State Route 504. Coldwater lakes natural habitat provides water and fishing access.

DREW'S RV PARK- is located along Spirit Lake Highway. Drew's RV Park provides lodging and campsites.

ECO PARK RESORT- is located at the 24 mile marker along State Route 504. Eco Park Resort provides horses and hiking trails, comfortable camping space, and views of the country.

HARRY GARDNER PARK- Cowlitz County's Harry Gardner Park on the South Toutle River offers overnight camping, river access, playgrounds, and fishing.

KID VALLEY CAMPGROUND- is located along Spirit Lake Highway in a quiet forest area. Kid Valley Campground offers hiking opportunities, biking, and site seeing. There is several nearby activities for winter and summer time! Kid Valley Campground showcases an A-Frame where a visitor can walk through a home inundated by mud flows.

MOUNT ST. HELEN'S RV PARK- is located up the 504 milepost mark 23. Mount St. Helen's RV Park provides a comfortable place to stay with hunting and fishing access.

SCIENCE LEARNING CENTER- Located up Highway 504, the Science Learning Center provides walking trails, stargazing, and offers camping overnight for education groups!

SEAQUEST STATE PARK- is located on Spirit Lake Highway across from Mt. St. Helen's Visitor Center. Seaquest State Park is a day use and camping facility that offers a fun variety of activities.

COLDWATER SCIENCE AND LEARNING CENTER- is located on state route 504. The Coldwater Science and Learning Center provides great views and interactive exhibits. Open Weekends and offers group tours and classes.

JOHNSON RIDGE OBSERVATORY- located up highway 504,  Johnson Ridge offers displays of Mount St. Helen's history. They offer award winning films, ranger talks, views of landscape, souvenirs, hikes, and food.

MT. ST. HELEN'S FOREST LEARNING CENTER- Up Highway 504, milepost mark 33, Mount St. Helen's Forest Learning Center displays interactive exhibits and the recovery of the 1980 eruption. The Forest Learning center offers hiking trails around Mount St. Helen's crater, Spirit Lake, Mount Adams, and Mount Margaret.

CASTLE LAKE VIEWPOINT- is located East on State Route 504 for 40 miles. The Castle Lake Viewpoint provides beautiful views of Mount St. Helen's and landslide debris deposits from the eruption of Mount St. Helen's in 1980. Castle Lake Viewpoint gives visitors a beautiful view of Castle Lake and trail way.

COLDWATER LAKE TRAIL- Coldwater recreation area is on the State Route 504. Coldwater lake natural habitat gives people water and fishing access. It's trail access is a .6 miles interpretive trail giving close views of Coldwater Lake.

ECO PARK RESORT- is located at the 24 mile marker along State Route 504. Eco Park Resort provides access to horse and hiking trails, comfortable camping space, and a beautiful view of the country.

ELK BENCH TRAIL #221- is located at the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center. Elk Bench Trail is a trail head that offer a nice stroll through a 1 mile hiking trail.

HUMMOCKS TRAIL #229- This 1.2 mile loop trail that follows along hills created by the 1980 Mount St. Helen's eruption.

JOHNSON RIDGE OBSERVATORY TRAIL- is located up highway 504. Johnson Ridge offers curious mountain seekers to displays of Mount St. Helen's history. They offer award winning films, ranger talks, views if landscape, souvenirs, hikes, and food.

LOOWIT VIEWPOINT- is located 51 miles up from State Route 504. Loowit Viewpoint shows a great view of Mount St. Helen's Crater and geography.

MOUNT MARGARET BACKCOUNTRY- is located on State Route 504 and is a popular among hikers. The trails in the back-country lead to clear lakes, steep ridges, narrow trail heads, and flowered back country.

MOUNT SAINT HELEN'S WILDLIFE AREA- The Mount St. Helen's Wildlife Area, in the Toutle valley, provides areas for hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, and wildlife viewing.  The area offers a short trail at the end of Sediment Dam Road leads to the dam overlook.
